In 2026, Jani-King Canada proudly celebrates 40 years of growth, service, and franchise leadership in Canada.
Founded in 1969 in Oklahoma by Jim Cavanaugh, Jani-King helped shape the commercial cleaning franchise model and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs. The first Canadian franchise opened in the mid-1980s, marking an important step in the brand’s international growth. Since then, Jani-King Canada has continued to evolve alongside the needs of clients, Franchise Owners, and Regional Offices.
What began primarily as office cleaning has grown to support a wide range of commercial environments, including healthcare facilities, retail spaces, large commercial buildings, and other specialized settings. As client expectations have changed, Jani-King Canada has continued to strengthen the systems behind the service, including training, operational guidance, communication tools, and support through independently owned Regional Offices.
At its core, the Jani-King model is built around helping entrepreneurs build their own businesses while benefiting from an established brand, proven systems, training, and ongoing support. That structure became especially important during the pandemic, when cleaning and sanitation became more visible and closely connected to health, safety, and business continuity.
Like many service-based industries, commercial cleaning continues to face rising expectations, labour pressures, increased costs, and the need for consistent service across many different facilities. Jani-King Canada’s response remains focused on the fundamentals: strong training, clear communication, consistent standards, accountability, and close support from Regional Office teams.
Forty years later, the foundation of the system remains the same: helping Franchise Owners build sustainable businesses while delivering professional cleaning services backed by training, systems, and support. As Jani-King Canada celebrates this milestone, we recognize the Regional Owners, office teams, Franchise Owners, team members, suppliers, and customers who have helped shape the organization and continue to move it forward.
