We interviewed Rob Thompson to learn more about his success as a Jani-King Franchise Owner in Ottawa. Here’s what Rob has to say…
When did you buy your Jani-King Franchise?
I purchased my Jani-King Franchise in 2017.
What made you interested in the Jani-King system?
I started working in the Jani-King Ottawa office in 2012. I wanted to grow the business into new areas and show franchisees how to be successful in those markets. I also saw the success franchisees were having with their current work and wanted to be involved as well.
Which markets did you grow into or expand?
We started a significant amount of post-construction cleaning around 2014 and I wanted to continue growing that side of the business. I took on some large projects including office buildings, apartment buildings and medical facilities, and learned how to operate these jobs efficiently and keep customers happy. I also invested in several pieces of equipment to develop some “specialty services” such as floor waxing, grout restoration, window cleaning, heights cleaning including rafters, ceiling fans, industrial facilities, etc. No matter what customers need done, I want to be able to say “yes”.
Can you tell us a unique “specialty service” you’ve provided?
I am certified for Working at Heights so I’ve cleaned some areas that tend to be neglected or aren’t usually accessible to normal cleaners. Using a variety of lifts I’ve cleaned waterfalls, movie theatre ceilings, industrial warehouse rafters, sky lights and more.
