Briana Del Mundo, 17, is the daughter of long-time Calgary franchise owners, Edmund and Francesa Del Mundo. After visiting New York when she was 9, it became Briana’s dream to attend the dance program at Juilliard. Fulfilling this goal required Briana to juggle 30 hours of weekly training with being a full time student. Taking a risk, Briana chose to choreograph her own solo piece to audition with. The risk paid off, her performance left the judges breathless. Juilliard’s prestigious fine arts program accepts only 24 students each year, less than 1% of applicants.
Southern Alberta’s Regional Director Shayna Forseth had this to say about Briana’s acceptance,
We are so proud of Briana on her achievement, very few people are accepted to Juilliard so this is a big deal. It’s nice to see Briana’s hard work and dedication receive the recognition she deserves. We can’t wait to see all the great things Briana will accomplish in New York.
